Beat Street Community Drum Circle – for 2012

The Beat Street Community Drum Circle started in 1996 and at 16 years running, may well be the longest running weekly drop-in circle in Canada. The last circle of the 2012 Spring session is June 24 – MusicWorks then goes on Summer tour (no circles on Easter Sunday, April 8, and June 3).

A drum circle is a rhythm-based event where people gather in a circle to express themselves with African drums and percussion instruments. A facilitator guides the session, encouraging and supporting people as they reconnect with their innate sense of rhythm. Inclusiveness is a core principle – people of all backgrounds, mobility, ages and skill levels (even first-time beginners) can participate.

The circle has potential to teach us about community, inter-generational learning, creativity, team building, spirituality, mentoring, wellness, and respect for other cultures. It becomes a model and metaphor for our world family, an opportunity to engage in an age-old activity where young and old (and all of us in between) play and celebrate together.

Registered users will be able to contribute comments to an event listing, such as ratings, experiences, suggestions, and more. This feature shall be enabled imminently.

Registered users can select to be notified by email or text message for any event that they so chose. As well, you can add your favorite events onto Outlook, Google, Facebook, MySpace, and more.

Postings

You must be registered to post an event. There is a license fee for most event listings, but we do have free services for limited volume and for non-for-profits, educational institutions and suchlike.

Free Calendar Widget

You can select several events to list on your own web site free of charge. This process is quick and easy. Please follow the procedures as listed under Widget.

Paid Advertising

vu247.com offers several options for paid advertising.

• Link Exchange: If you have an event site, send us an email to links@vu247.com and we will consider a reciprocal link. If you are a major event organizer with a database driven event management system, we will consider an XML link to capture your information and display it on our site. Again send us an email.
• Paid Advertising - AdPin: We offer sponsors the opportunity to link to events, whether you are a sponsor of that event or not. You must register as an AdPin User and enter your information. The "AdPin" will appear on the maps when your linked-to event is shown on the map-view.
• Right Column Banner Ad: We offer graphic image ad spots per week on the right sidebar of our pages. The graphic image must be a standard 160x600 GIF or JPEG banner ad to be displayed properly.
• Left Column Banner Ad: We offer graphic image ad spots per week on the left sidebar of our pages. The graphic image must be a standard 160x200 GIF or JPEG banner ad to be displayed properly. We also have a self-serve ad creation procedure to help you create your own advertising that will be placed in this Column.
• Enhanced Postings: You can enhance your event posting so that it appears as an event listing in the postcard display format along side other events.
• Notifications: Our event notifications to registered users is e-mailed by request only. You can sponsor this activity by advertising on this message.
